Boundless Reverie celebrates the intersection of cultures across time as fertile ground for artistic inspiration. Rare Chinese antiquities reminiscent of the spread of Chinoiserie across Europe is exhibited alongside contemporary artworks that look to our shared global heritage and the fluidity of cultural expression. Expect to journey through time to discover a rare collection of gilt-decorated lacquer from the 18th to 19th century and recent works by 13 promising contemporary artists.

This exhibition creates an immersive and interactive experience with digital technologies, offering you a unique perspective to explore the beauty of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and understand the techniques and tools involved in the creation process of gilt-decorated lacquerware — from jewellery cabinets and tea boxes of the 18th century to hand-painted courtyard scene fans and bookcases of 19th century, the exhibition is complemented by immersive audio and visual experiences that celebrate the contemporary resurgence of traditional crafts.
